About PINTO

This isn’t just Limoges porcelain but a huge universe of exceptional craftsmanship, bold artistic vision, unmatched talent, and the highest quality.

Pinto Paris: From Interiors To Icons

Pinto, as a brand of French porcelain tableware, is like a sequel born from the world of high-end interior design. The legendary French decorator of luxurious residences, yachts, private jets, and hotels around the world, Alberto Pinto, opened his design studio in Paris back in the late 1960s, where he developed and brought to life masterful ideas inspired by an eclectic blend of cultural influences and historical eras. Today, the brand has two main branches: interior design and curated furniture collections, décor, and fine porcelain tableware.

The art de la table concept was a true passion of the maestro—he designed custom tableware patterns for nearly every gran project. Over time, these signature patterns grew into a world of their own—one that naturally led to the creation of a new Limoges dinnerware manufactory. The Pinto Paris tableware line was officially launched in 2009 as a separate branch of the Alberto Pinto design house.

Pinto Tableware Craftsmanship

Staying true to the philosophy of flawless beauty and refined luxury, the material chosen for Pinto tableware was no accident: authentic, top-grade French hard-paste porcelain from Limoges.

The magic of the production process is the blend of cutting-edge technology and time-honored French craftsmanship. An exclusive double firing at an extremely high temperature—around 1400 °C—in special kilns transforms the delicate-looking porcelain into a surprisingly strong piece, perfect for everyday use.

Pinto Paris design studio pays special attention to the quality of painting and detail: to transfer the uniquely structured and complex multicolored patterns, they use high-quality chromolithography, skilled hand-painting, and precious finishing touches while for larger designs the studio turns to the delicate art of decal application.

Pinto Décor Is Pure Magic

The range knows no limits—every client can find a design that speaks to their own aesthetic, from bold, vibrant modern styles with rich multicolored patterns to classic, refined shapes with pearlescent or iridescent finishes. A signature, instantly recognizable trait of the Pinto style is its bold yet balanced mix of influences—this creative blend gives rise to rich, eclectic décor that truly stands out from other makers.

Painting as a Signature Detail

The painting styles are diverse—smooth or textured, underglaze or overglaze, with shaped edge highlights or raised, tactile patterns.

  • For example, the plates from the Les Champignons collection, with their botanical style, reveal layered pigment application, delicate hand-painted brush details, and a soft watercolor technique.
  • Fine detailing and the lifelike quality of the artwork are another signature feature found in many of the manufactory’s collections. On Feuillages tableware, tropical leaves seem to bloom—applied using hand chromolithography and layered shading techniques that give the foliage rich color and natural, flowing transitions.
  • Collections like Les Perroquets and Plumes reflect a deep inspiration from exotic wildlife. To capture the airy lightness and textured beauty of feathers, the artists use subtle color gradients and semi-transparent brushstrokes that mimic natural softness—along with watercolor fades and delicate shading.
  • Another signature of Alberto Pinto’s style is the reinterpretation of classic traditions. For example, the Vieux Kyoto collection offers a fresh take on Japanese woodblock prints: architectural monochrome scenes are hand-painted onto pure white Limoges porcelain using inky brushstrokes and calligraphic precision.
  • The Pinto collection also features modern abstract designs, reminiscent of works by Kandinsky, Miró, or Mondrian—like Menta, with its geometric motifs, or the Broadway collection, known for its bold stripes and Art Deco vibe.

Precious Metals as a Signature Touch

Lavish accents of gold and platinum are a hallmark of many of Pinto’s luxurious collections.

The artisans use time-honored gilding techniques that date all the way back to the 18th century. For example, the filet doré technique can be seen on plates from the Vannerie and Vannerie Cottage collections: first, the gold décor is hand-painted with a brush, then, after firing, it’s polished to a shine using an agate stone.

The manufactory also uses the technique of matte gilding, as seen in collections like Filet à Papillons and Histoire d’Orchidées. Every precious finish—whether it’s gold or a platinum sheen—is applied by hand with great precision, highlighting the uniqueness of each piece.

Sustainability That Truly Matters

When you choose a Pinto Paris plate, you’re getting more than just beauty; you’re choosing something crafted with care, where every brushstroke and decorative detail is natural, safe, and made to the highest environmental standards. Natural materials—like porcelain made from purified clay, mineral-based pigments, and real gold—combined with traditional painting techniques mean there are no artificial coatings or toxic dyes involved. The tableware is fired at high temperatures, which makes it completely inert and hygienic—ensuring it won’t react with food in any way.

Pinto’s Iconic Collaborations

Over the years, Studio Pinto has built creative partnerships with some of the most talented artists and renowned houses in the world of decorative and applied arts.

  • For example, together with the historic Limoges manufactory Raynaud, they created the iconic Cristobal collection, capturing the vivid beauty and rich tones of ocean coral.
  • Equally inspiring were collaborations with artisanal glass and crystal makers. You can spot the unmistakable Pinto style in the handcrafted pieces by the glassworks Casarialto.
  • In 2010, Alberto Pinto personally designed the Paris silverware collection for the French manufactory Ercuis, aiming to reinterpret and breathe new life into classic French themes and motifs.
  • Quite often, the Pinto brand stepped beyond the world of tableware décor, embracing the broader art de vivre. In collaboration with the Parisian house Pierre Frey, they created a one-of-a-kind collection of luxurious interior textile designs.

Beloved Pinto Collections

Pinto’s luxury dinnerware reflects Alberto Pinto’s cosmopolitan taste across every theme imaginable—from delicate floral motifs and exotic chinoiserie scenes to bold abstraction and avant-garde geometry.

  • The striking Potager plates feel like a traditional ode to French country life. The artwork brings vegetables to life in vibrant colors, framed by bold gold edging that adds a subtle hint of luxury.
  • The Jaipur dinner set is a vibrant, festive collection, inspired by the maestro’s memories of traveling through India. The décor features traditional motifs and intricate chromolithographic patterns that feel almost like richly woven fabric to the touch.
  • The Magnolia collection, with its gentle floral patterns, feels like a tribute to morning freshness, youth, and beauty. Each piece is hand-painted with soft watercolor shading, capturing an air of refined elegance and quiet luxury.
  • The grandeur of Russian imperial aesthetics and the richness of the royal past inspired Alberto Pinto to create the iconic Russe décor. It features symmetrical patterns, stylized floral and geometric designs, and a mix of matte and polished gold elements.
