Alpha Colours
Hans Harald Rath designed the Alpha set in 1952. With their compact and balanced features glasses fit beautifully in the hand.
Design was inspired by a Baroque copper cup from the collections of the MAK Vienna, which was itself influenced by Islamic art. Reflecting the 1950s lifestyle, these glasses are fully stackable. They are made from finest muslin glass and mouth-blown into wooden forms, which is giving them their elegant appearance.
In 1964, the series won German National Design Prize Gute Form.
Today, some of the shapes are available in six light colors, as well as garnet red and black.
