About J.L COQUET

The J.L Coquet porcelain manufactory, located in the small town of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat to the east of Limoges, has been producing world-renowned Limoges porcelain since 1824. The workshop sits along the banks of the Vienne River, where firewood from the Massif Central was once transported, providing the perfect environment for crafting immaculate porcelain.

The use of pure kaolin clay and a commitment to impeccable craftsmanship has established Limoges porcelain as a symbol of excellence. J.L Coquet continues this legacy, creating delicate and resilient pieces that are renowned for their purity. The manufactory also combines traditional handcrafting techniques with modern design, producing minimalist shapes with bold proportions.

The skilled artisans of J.L Coquet have honed their craft for generations in the peaceful surroundings of the riverbank. At the heart of their creations is a blend of kaolin, water, wood and expert knowledge, giving rise to their highly prized white gold.

The key to J.L Coquet's pure white porcelain lies in the quality of its porcelain paste, which is carefully crafted in-house and allowed to mature for up to three months in the manufactory's cellars. This demanding process is worth the time investment as the final product is unparalleled in its beauty.

A distinctive feature of J.L Coquet's porcelain is the contrast between its glazed and satin-finished surfaces, which gives the otherwise cold material an organic warmth. The artisans apply a special mineral mask to all parts of the porcelain pieces that are to remain matte, which allows the glaze to roll off during the glazing process.

During firing, the mineral mask forms a protective layer while preserving the biscuit-like appearance of the porcelain. The unmasked areas develop a shiny glaze, creating a final product with both durable and resilient surfaces. This unique technique results in plates, bowls and cups that are both elegant and practical.

J.L Coquet's mastery extends beyond creating resilient matt surfaces in porcelain. In recognition of their excellence, the French government awarded the company the prestigious "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (EPV) label in 2010. This designation is given to companies that embody traditional French craftsmanship and quality.

Furthermore, in 2017, J.L Coquet received the "Porcelain from Limoges" designation of origin, which signifies that the production and decoration of their porcelain takes place entirely at their manufactory in the Haute-Vienne department, ensuring that it is 100% made in France. This label further emphasizes J.L Coquet's commitment to preserving French heritage and craftsmanship.

Hémisphère

J.L Coquet's Hémisphère collection is a symbol of pure porcelain excellence. With its defining feature of fine, satin-finished grooves around a glazed center, the collection exudes minimalist elegance.

The artisans at J.L Coquet put in a significant amount of effort to create each piece of the Hémisphère china collection, with over twenty steps involved in the production of each plate, cup, and bowl. The grooves are meticulously drawn by hand into the unfired porcelain, and the mineral mask is brushed onto the pieces to create the iconic contrast between the glazed and satin-finished surfaces.

The collection offers endless possibilities, with a variety of shapes and designs, including gourmet plates, teapots, egg cups, and more, all available in classic white, marine blue, gold, and platinum. The Hémisphère china collection provides a blank canvas for creative cooks, whether professional or amateur, to showcase their culinary creations with unmatched elegance. Its easy-to-clean and maintain qualities make it the perfect choice for anyone looking to elevate their cooking.

The artisans at J.L Coquet are passionate about pushing the limits of porcelain design. With their expert skill and attention to detail, they have created the beautiful Bubble bowls. These opulent ring-shaped bowls are a standout piece on any table, showcasing the contents within.

The Bubble bowls come in a range of colors and with or without the signature Hémisphère grooves, making them a versatile addition to any kitchen. Their unique design offers endless possibilities for presenting a variety of dishes, from starters to desserts. Serve with the Hémisphère collection for a complete dining experience that's sure to impress.
