About LALIQUE

Lalique - symbol of French luxury

Since 1888, Lalique pieces have been made in Wingen-sur-Moder, in the middle of the Northern Vosges, next to a small village with around 1600 people. This place is green and beautiful. Here, the sparkling material turns into shape in a dance of fire that many skilled hands have directed for generations. Lalique is famous and also a sign of artistic tradition and very good craftsmanship. Now, Lalique is seen as the top treasure of French glass and crystal making. It's known for being excellent because of making very special pieces from crystal glass in many different ways. That's why people also call Lalique the 'high fashion' of crystal. Old skills and knowledge, handed down through families from one generation to the next.

The process of creating exquisite crystal pieces Lalique

Hidden away in their workshops, the Lalique team makes between 350,000 and 400,000 pieces every year. Their skill is the heart of the company. The earthiness of sand and the power of fire are the beginnings of Lalique's crystal and its creations. The glassmakers face very high heat in the hot glass workshops as they gather, clean, shape, and heat the crystal again. Water, clean and lively, is crucial for making and enhancing the crystal. Lalique puts a lot of importance on cold glass, which shows in the careful attention to sculpting and finishing each piece. The lost-wax technique is innovative, careful, and a secret skill used for making extraordinary creations and artworks. This method also used by René Lalique until 1930 gives a unique texture and unmatched detail. The pieces are chosen not just by how they look technically but also by how they look fully honoring the creative team's vision. Throughout the whole process each piece is carefully checked before it is hand-signed promising it's real and of high quality.

Features of a crystal creation with elements of French refinement

Lalique's designs change by showing things from nature, animals, and women and they also bring these figures to mix with each other in their collections. Lalique's collections include aesthetic decanters, sculptures and even pieces of furniture, amazing vases. Here, shapes mix up, actions come together, and the crystal sparkles. Water lilies move in bubbling water, horses run towards freedom among flowing leaves and shiny details. Lalique vases tell stories of old myths and dreams of rich beauty. With the talent of the Lalique workers, crystal turns into something that carries light energy and talks nicely with everything around it, making wonderful and fancy surroundings.

The smooth and curvy shapes of Lalique's handmade female nudes capture the viewer's eye in a magical way. There's a kind of enchantment, almost like an old myth, coming from how the satin crystal catches light, holding it inside a bit before showing it off. They open up a world full of feelings, moods and sensations deep in the subconscious. Like the Bacchantes from old Greek stories Lalique crystal women carry a storm of feelings making light dance forever on the handmade edges by Lalique's experts.
