Obsidian
The Obsidian dinnerware collection from Stefanie Hering by Hering Berlin brings new ideas, being very unique and modern, and it changes the way porcelain is made. Dark black and matte white come together: the edges of the Obsidian plates are smooth, silky matte, and not glazed bisque porcelain, making a nice opposite to the shiny black glaze inside the plates. The glaze, which is fired at high temperatures, changes through different shades of black.
The black glazes covering the plates is something special made by Hering Berlin. Stefanie Hering worked for many months with skilled workers, trying things out. These glazes are put on by hand, flow a bit different on each piece, and settle in layers that are sometimes more see-through and sometimes more covered.
