About JESURUM
A Colorful Innovation: Polychrome Lace (1878)
A mere eight years after the establishment of the workshop, Michelangelo Jesurum introduced the world to polychrome lace. By incorporating threads of various colors, this innovation brought an entirely new dimension to lace-making. The technique was so groundbreaking that it won the gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1878.
Empowering Communities: Specialized Lace Schools (1890)
As the demand for Jesurum's products grew, the need for skilled artisans became evident. In response, Michelangelo founded specialized lace schools in Burano, Pellestrina, and Chioggia, providing employment opportunities for nearly 3,000 lace workers. These schools enabled the wives and daughters of local fishermen to work from home and contribute to their families' livelihoods.
International Acclaim: Gran Premio in Barcelona (1929)
The unique artistry of Jesurum's lace and embroidery collections captivated the European aristocracy and secured the brand's status as the official supplier for the Italian royal family. In 1929, the company received the prestigious Gran Premio at the International Exhibition in Barcelona, further solidifying its international reputation.
Embracing La Dolce Vita: Clothing and Beachwear (1960)
Jesurum continued to evolve with the times by introducing a clothing and beachwear line in the 1960s. The fusion of intricate embroidery with the spirit of La Dolce Vita caught the attention of international magazines, showcasing the brand's ability to adapt while staying true to its roots.
A Modern Touch: Bespoke Products (2009)
Collaborating with architects and interior designers, Jesurum expanded its classic collections by incorporating contemporary motifs and materials into its bespoke products. This blending of tradition and innovation allowed the brand to grow, adding cashmere accent blankets, men's pajamas, lingerie, slippers, and the Moretto porcelain tableware collection to its offerings.
Catering to the Little Ones: Baby J Collection (2019)
Recognizing the importance of providing quality products for all family members, Jesurum introduced the Baby J collection in 2019. The line features bed linens, robes, pajamas, and slippers designed specifically for children.
A Family Affair: The Leadership (2021)
Today, the Jesurum legacy is carried on by Paola Cimolai, president and CEO, a descendant of the Pordenone steel dynasty, her sister Carla, who oversees production, and Filippo Olivetti, CEO of the Bassani Group. Together, they continue to honor the rich history and artistry of Jesurum while embracing the future, ensuring that the brand remains synonymous with elegance, craftsmanship, and timeless style.
